The Power of Habit | Book Review

After killing last's week book with my review, I wanted to make it up to you, guys, and share a book I really loved. So here you have it: THE POWER OF HABIT by Charles Duhigg.

You too can get up early, exercise, eat healthy, quit smoking and drinking. It won't be easy, though. It all comes down to habits.

Charles Duhigg's THE POWER OF HABIT accomplishes what few nonfiction books are able to do: educate. It is a serious look at the science of habit formation.

The book covers a wide spectrum of the topic of habits, It explains how habits are formed and how the bad ones can be broken. How information on habits has been used in marketing, management, and social movements. It shows us why so many products use Sodium Laureth Sulfate to make foam, even they needn't and how Target uses their customers' data to predict which of the women are pregnant and the trimesters their in as well (improving product placement).

The book is filled with compelling stories that help us understand how habits are formed. But Duhigg doesn't stop there. He provides the steps you have to follow to change a bad habit, or form a new one. He explains how habits are formed by a cycle of a cue that triggers some behavior (good or bad), then a reward, and then a craving develops to drive a loop of repetitive behavior.

The "Power of Habit" It's thorough and entertaining at the same time. is a fascinating read, one of the best books I've read these last couple of years. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Once you read this book, you'll never look at yourself, your organization, or your world quite the same way.
