Let's reinvent ourselves in 2022 together

Are you satisfied with your current situation? If not, this is for you.

I've noticed recently that the pandemic has had many of us look at our current situation and realize that we are not where we wanted to be. As we headed towards accomplishing some things in our lives, perhaps we got carried away by opportunities and offers we might not have thought through as much as we thought we had. And this lead us to today, living our lives on auto-pilot, not taking a second to think something over and repeating the same mundane, meaningless routine over and over. The great resignation and the pursuit of a purposeful life occurring as I write this makes me wonder if we would have taken a step back to watch ourselves go about our lives and reconsider the things we do, were it not for the pandemic.

There is no doubt that the lockdowns and all the restrictions have taken a toll on each and every one of us. So the question is, how do we go from here?

Declutter your mind

In order to be more mindful and purposeful in how we spend our days, we must have clarity. And the only way to have clarity is by decluttering our mind. Is it just me, or are thoughts always spiraling inside your head and you jump from one thought to the next, without having resolved the first one? This makes it so hard to focus on one task. One thing that always helps me gain clarity is writing my thoughts down. I aim at removing everything that occupies space in my brain and putting it on paper. It doesn't have to be coherent sentences. Maybe they are, or maybe they're just lists or single words or doodles. How do you declutter you mind?

Analyze your current life

For many of us, analyzing our own life is very difficult. We mostly live in denial and do not want to accept that we have made a critical mistake or two that will eventually lead to our demise. A little bit dramatic here, I know. What is the one thing that you would change, if you could go back in time? That one single thing that is costing you your potential... If you're satisfied with your decisions and wouldn't change a thing, then congrats! You've won a cookie.

Define your core values

Sometimes, when you don't know exactly what you want to be doing instead and how to fix anything that needs fixing in your life, it helps to know and understand what you stand for. We live for our values, don't we? So maybe we should be doing something around them.

Focus on your health

I cannot stretch health enough. If we don't have this, then what do we have?

Find your starting point

When you want to pursue one of your major goals in life, you lay out all the small steps you have to achieve to get there, but sometimes, looking at the steps is just overwhelming. Find your starting point. Where do you have to begin in order to be able to go ahead? If you want to climb a ladder, you'll have to start from the first rung. What task in your list is your first rung?

Keep going

I love this quote by muchelleb: the more that you do, the more that you do. I cannot agree more. Achieving the smallest of accomplishments sends a message to your brain that you can do the things you say you want to do, sparking motivation and willpower to move forward.

What steps will you take to improve your life and reinvent yourself? Let's do this together!
